BALD EAGLES

A popular attraction at Silverwood Lake is the bald eagles that return to the lake every winter in search of food. Visitors to the lake from December through March have the opportunity to see bald eagles soaring over the water or perched in trees along the shore of the lake.

Bald Eagle

Free barge tours to observe bald eagles are offered every Saturday and Sunday from January through March each year. The tours last about one hour, and are offered at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Reservations are strongly recommended, and can be made by calling the park office at (760) 389-2303 or (760) 389-2281.

There is also an opportunity to participate in bald eagle counts, which are conducted at Silverwood Lake, Lake Arrowhead, and Big Bear Lake one Saturday a month from December through March. Contact Silverwood Lake SRA at (760) 389-2303 or (760) 389-2281 if you would like to participate in these counts.
