
Silverwood Lake
WILDLIFE
Silverwood Lake SRA consists of widespread chaparral habitat that is home to a diversity of wildlife. Many species of birds have been observed around the lake including red-tailed hawks, Cooper’s hawks, ospreys, roadrunners, Clark’s nutcrackers, Stellar's and scrub jays, rock wrens, and mountain bluebirds. Species of migratory waterfowl- great blue herons, snowy egrets, avocets, western grebes, loons, Canada geese, mergansers- are a common sight.
California mule deer, coyotes, black bears, bobcats, golden beavers, cottontail and brush rabbits, jackrabbits, western gray and ground squirrels, chipmunks and woodrats have all been observed in the area.
Please note, there is absolutely NO hunting in the Silverwood SRA.
